Beth Lawson was born Mary Elizabeth Freeland in McCormick, South Carolina on August 11, 1950. Since there was no family in Florida to help take care of Beth and her mother before and after Beth’s birth, her father sent her mother to South Carolina to be with his family to help with the new baby. Having always felt cheated that she is not a Floridian, Beth has a love of all things Floridian. Her mother was from the panhandle area of the state and Beth grew up in Lockhart, seven miles north of Orlando. Beth has always surrounded herself with artistic and talented people and has said for many years her dream would be to open a store to sell their art. In conversation with these wonderful, talented people she always said the store would be called Beth’s friends. The store, which opened in August 2006, carries art and fine crafts by Florida artists.
Beth's shop, Beth's Friends, is one of the best friends to local artists and visitors. Beth's collection is varied, the atmosphere cozy, prices reasonable. Take a stoll through Sanford's up and coming downtown and stop in to become another of Beth's friends.
We met while you were working in Winter Park. Congrats on "Beth's Friends". I'm hearing wonderful things. I hope to get up there soon to check it out.
Wishing you continued success.
