June 16, 2007 marks the 15 year anniversary of the Martial Arts Center for Health. Founder Tom Curtin has built the Center with the intention of designing an environment to give others the gift of self cultivation. He has held true over the 15 years to his philosophy of instilling respect, integrity, compassion, and quality into every aspect of the Center. And for that, our 15 year anniversary is true success.
Much more than I ever expected!
I am 28 and a pharmaceutical sales representative and benefit greatly from my training. I was introduced to the school by my parents who started because my Dad had a severe back injury and I was looking for an alternative to a gym to get back in shape. I lost over 20 lbs and now have a supportive environment where I am able to be challenged and grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. My challenges in the school have also transfered to both my personal life as well as my business where my income has increased dramatically while being part of the school. The school is unlike anything I have ever been a part of and a place where anyone with a passion for life will feel at home.
I'm a 42-year old father of two children ages 7 and 10 who attend The Martial Arts Center for Health.
My experience has been profoundly transformative, both for my children and myself. The emphasis is on physical and spiritual development -- by "spiritual" I mean concerned with or affecting the spirit or soul; not sacred matters, such as religion. The respect and love of self, and others, is what my children have learned in each lesson. They have fun, have made friends, but most importantly, they are acquiring life-skills that give me a peace of mind like no other activity I can expose them to.
The emphasis is on taking care of themselves so they can then take care of others. It really needs to be experienced to be understood. I sleep better at night. My children have learned skills necessary to protect themselves, should the unthinkable happen. This is necessary in today's world, but the "martial" (military or warlike) part of the arts isn't the focus. It's the acquisition and refinement of life skills.
As a responsible, loving parent you do our best to provide your children with various keys to sucess in life: the keys to a life well lived. The tendency is to focus on the basics, such as: - Important analytical skills: like math and science - Food for the soul: in Art and Music - Enrichment for the Spirit: in literature and philosophy But there's a fourth key: Spiritually Rooted Physical Development. Clear values is what they'll learn. Values are what will guide your child's behavior when no one is there to see what they do, when they know no one can find out.
Come and see what I mean for yourself. If you seek to make lasting meaningful changes in your children's health, in their lives; do your family a favor and take time to visit. You'll enjoy a closer relationship with your kids. It's the first step in knowing you've done your best for them.
As a Holistic practitioner for over 30 year and a martial art student for over 20 years in numerous disciplines, the Martial Arts Center for Health teaches ancient wisdom in a contemporary manner, that is void of ego, translates love and affection to all of it's students. It teaches its students forms that adds years to one's life and life to one's years.
I have confidently been referring my patients to this school for over 13 years as an addition to the chiropractic care, acupuncture care and nutrition care offered in my center. The teachers have pure intentions that are sincere and help all students willing to practice to go beyond their goals and dreams for better health, enhanced self defense, personal growth, heightened self esteem and much more. This school has by far the most structured, well balanced martial arts program for children, teens and adults with a teaching staff that is dedicated to continued self improvement and sharing their knowledge in a safe and healthy manner. This is a place that all parents should consider sending their children to get them started in a non-completive environment that is family owned and operated for over 15 years.
I had always been interested in martial arts but was turned off by the competitiveness of most schools. The instructors at the MACH teach and practice compassion and patience and are extremely involved with every student that practices there. It is a safe and nonjudgmental environment where everyone, including the students, makes you feel comfortable. I have been training at the center for about six months and have learned a lot about myself and life. I have also improved physically and mentally, and every class is a new challenge and never dull or boring. I am so fortunate to have found the MACH.
I have been training at the MACH for almost 4 years, and recently achieved my Black Belt. Not only am I in the best physical shape of my life but my overall health, my ability to deal with stress, and my patience have all increased dramatically. Tom Curtin and the instructors at the MACH have given me the tools and support to improve every aspect of my life.
Hey people! I think the Martial Arts Center for Health is the best because the training isn't about winning and competition. It's more about health, spirit, and self defense. Go MACH!!!
I have only been with the MAHC for one month and find it to be very welcoming and comfortable as an adult beginner. I can already tell an improvement in my flexibility, concentration, and energy.
Even after 2 years of training, every time i step inside it is a new experience. Every class seems to be more challenging than the last. I received a black belt in Tae Kwon Do when I was younger and I learned more in a month at this school about life and what martial arts is truly about than I did the whole 5 years at the other.
I have been a part of many different types of training and exercise over the years including involvement with one of the most respected Tae Kwon Do training centers in the U.S. and I have never done anything that so thoroughly worked my entire body this training has. At 48 years old, it is the best and safest training I've found.
I have been training at the Center for 8 years. I am 55 years old and in the best health and shape of my life. Tom Curtain, owner and teacher is unsurpassed in his knowledge and ability. All of the instructors take an interest in the individual students needs. I love attending my Martial Arts school!
Finally, a school which teaches multiple external and internal martial arts! If there's any aspect of yourself that you want to improve, this is the place to go. And they're all so friendly, too! My fav is the qigong, including the new musical qigong from Master Wu :-)
As soon as you go into the school, you feel safe and the energy is calming. They help me with my knees, back, and I have lost 30 pound since joining two years ago.
The environment is one that fosters the individual to challenge themselves in a manner that improves their health of mind and body. The knowledge that is available to the students is time tested and beneficial to students who average age is in their mid 30's.
After being in the school for over 2 years, I loved their teachings. They do 1 on 1 teachings, or group sessions, plus they have a children class which is a lot of fun!
