Sportstown Billiards was established in 1958; long before, it was filled with cow pastures. In the late fifties and sixties, Sportstown was a greasy spoon with the greatest hamburgers in town and where the card players outnumbered the pool players. There were real life gangsters who occupied their time by melting down silver in a secret upstairs apartment. And as rumor tells it, other dirty deals went down, which formed the Dixie Mafia. Throughout the seventies and eighties, there were many great pool players who passed with legendary pool playing abilities. Sportstown Billiards now has a different approach in gathering clientele...
The bar is nice but the owner is a prick with no people skills. He threatened to break my stick after jumping a ball even though there are no signs saying that you can't. If he had asked me nicely not to do it again I would have respected that, but to yell, curse, and threaten a regular customer is just plain rude and uncalled for.
