If you're looking for a relaxing little place to hangout and enjoy some great food and down home hospitality, then this is the place for you!
Come as you are....from business suits to bathing suits, everyone is welcome here, and the menu is just as diversified! Melissa takes pride in getting to know everyone on a personal level, when she takes a break from the grille. She opened Sweet Melissa's just two years ago, and says she gets by with a little help from her friends!
Big Mike is the master shucker and most times entertainment for the night, when he grabs the megaphone and starts announcing that its time to do "booger beers" (a favorite amongst the locals & out of towners alike!).
If you're expecting some fancy decor and pre-cooked fast food then this is NOT the place for you.....everything is made to order, & the outdoor dining offers fresh air, and "fine dining in the rough" among our wooden spool tables & barstools. The decor is made up of items customers have brought us from all over the states (& Australia too)....fishing poles, lobster traps, license plates, clam rakes, signs, even a boat that we decided to make into a "dude bar"!!!!
We offer fresh peel & eat shrimp, big juicy 1/2 pound REAL burgers, large prime select oysters(raw,steamed or fried), cheesesteaks, clams, catfish baskets, flounder baskets, gator baskets, cajun crawfish, fried shrimp baskets, live blue crab, roasted wings (never fried), clam strips, and we roast all of our own chicken, beef & pork on premises for the down home bbq.... the the menu just goes on & on......check out the website... www.sweetmelissasrawbar.com or myspace.
Theres a little "sumpfin sumphin" for everyone!
Everyone gets a sample of the fresh homemade clam chowder or crawfish bisque on thier first visit, (the New Englanders swear its the best they've ever had!). We sell it by the cup, bowl, pint, quart or in a fresh baked bread bowl!
In the evening expect an unannounced game of "stump the shucker" , name that tune, or some other fun "happening" in order to win a prize. "Come for the food......stay for the fun"...thats what the locals say!
If you like the feel of "home", then your sure to love it here. Friendly happy faces, great food, and good times.........thats what its all about!

Wow, so many fantastic reviews from loyal happy customers, where do we start. My husband and I try to get to Sweet Melissa's at lease once a week. We love the oysters and booger beers!!! We love being able to relax and meet new people who are as down to earth as we are. Over the last year we have had the pleasure of not only enjoying the fabulous food and great atmosphere, but actually getting to know Sweet Melissa and Big Mike. These are two wonderful people who truly love what they do and are amazing at it. Always something new on the menu always great tasting! If your looking for a great spot, great food, fabulous people and a great time, head on over to Sweet Melissa's. Tell them Aunt Lemon and Beetle sent you!!!!

Sweet M's is the place if you enjoy being in a family atmosphere with the best people in central Florida!
I personally do not eat seafood anywhere but here, even raw!! Stop by and get a pound of fresh cooked peel and eat Shrimp (be sure to ask for the trifecta seasoning on them!!).
Take a break, slow down, and enjoy your new family.
Don't expect to be in and out in 15 minutes, this is food cooked as needed, and cooked properly!!
Enjoy an ice cold beer from the coolers, or a nice pitcher of draft while you are waiting.
Don't forget the blue crabs either, they are great!!!

Being very picky about my food eating in mostly 4 and 5 star restaurants, coming from "Nawlins", and my eldest daughter being a Chief...I was homesick so we did an impromptu right turn pulling into Sweet Melissa's one afternoon to see if they did it right and homestyle. Well folks, all I have to say is it exceed my expectations as I was delighted to see Mike using Zatarain's. WOW!!! A slice of home just like Bucktown up by the lake front. Finally, I found real food in FL as all is not lost. This place rocks and is family friendly w/ good old southern hospitality. The crawfish bisque is fabulous, better than my daughters!! Now if we can only get some Abita Purple Haze flowing.....These wonderful souls know how to really keep it real and throw down. Hats off to ya both dawlin'

I always look for a place to call home, that has amazing food for a great price. I have been going to SWEET MELISSA"S for a few years now. The place is simply wonderful! I truly hope that when they win this contest, it won't be so busy that I have to make a reservation. Mike and Melissa please keep up the good work. If you have never visited this gem, you are missing a experience of a lifetime.

We LOVE Sweet Melissa's! My friends and I eat there as often as we can...rain or shine! The food is awesome and the atmosphere is always so high energy and fun!

Sweet Melissas is a GREAT place to hang out and have a beer, a burger, or some of the best seafood in the state! Melissa is a master on the grill, or behind the raw bar. Sweet Melissa's never disappointed!
