I'm a breast cancer survivor and a personal trainer whose specialization is breast cancer recovery classes. For a number of reasons, I wanted to put the exercise routines to dance. So I went to see Olivia Gale. Olivia didn't just help, she jumped into the project, heart and soul. She understood everything: That it’s more fun to move to music than it is to simply exercise; that it's easier to remember a dance than an exercise routine (which is especially important for women who are dealing with short term memory loss that is often a side effect of treatment); that a great deal of damage is done to the psyche during breast cancer treatment; that dance is a graceful and powerful means for a woman to reclaim her femininity. Olivia took the time to learn the exercises and understand the limitations of a breast cancer patient before making recommendations. And then she breathed life into the movements. Now I have no doubt that my students are going to love coming to class, even though they're going through chemo and radiation therapy and surgeries. They're going to look forward to class, because the movements are not only healing, but also spiritually and emotionally uplifting. I can't thank Olivia enough for giving so much of herself.
Olivia Gale is the best. She took away one of my feet. I used to have two left feet and one right foot. She teaches with her heart and can make even the worst look the best. The Zebra Room is more than a place to dance. It's where you will meet one the the kindest, warmest, and most talented instructor and teacher you will ever meet. Olivia is just the BEST dance teacher. She has so much talent and alot of patience. I have known her for four years and enjoy working with her. She is truly special!!!!!
The teachers here are such a great group of people. Everyone is so warm and friendly. It is so much fun to watch the teachers working with their students. There is a lot of talent on the floor. The vaulted ceilings and windows make it open and airy. It just has great energy all around.
Olivia is wonderfull!!! My future husband is seriously ill He also has (1) prostectic leg and the other is in a cast. She is increadibly patient and encouraging with us both. We have enjoyed the class so much that we have decided to continue with private lessons after the wedding (a week away).
We learned of Olivia only after calling numerous dance instructors who were not up to the challange. Olivia not only accepted us as clients but has been flexable with scheduling around his many doctors appointments. We practice / study with Olivia 1-2 hours per day, and would not miss it for the world!!!
Word of advice to those looking to learn: Go. Enjoy. You will love it - we wish we would have done this years ago!!!
Olivia is awesome! My husband and I are learning ballroom dance. We started taking lessons at an "internationall known" dance studio and were not happy with how much money they wanted and how little we seemed to be learning. We decided to give Olivia a try and learned more from her in one hour than we learned at the "internationally known" dance studio in four 45-minute sessions. Olivia is personable, fun and a fantastic dance instructor. We look forward to every lesson with her!
I LOVE Olivia's advanced tap for adults on Monday nights. It's so much fun and a great workout! I look forward to it every week. There's always something new and challenging and it always boosts my mood.
Olivia taught my husband and I how to dance the Tango for our first dance last year and she was amazing! Neither of us had prior dancing experience and we had a blast!! Olivia was extremely patient, thorough, and had fun while instructing us! We're planning to go back for more lessons soon.
